Yes, I said towards the end of my original comment that we need to learn logical principles, which I already said are not part of STEM. Did you read my whole comment?

Indeed, Plato may not have invented racism, but racism is nevertheless a product of philosophy. The problem is that it's not enough to just say "go study philosophy". You have to choose the "right" philosophies to study - which in itself is a "philosophical" decision.

Philosophy is a weird one because if you study a particular branch of philosophy, I would consider that a "humanity", because you're specifically studying things that other people said. But if you just philosophize on your own, I would consider that neither a humanity or a STEM pursuit. It's just you thinking. And I'd argue that the latter is really what we need more of. And then we just need to philosophize in dialogue with each other (which is, after all, what you and I are doing right now), AND be willing to recognize when other people are able to point out logical flaws in our own philosophies.

But as I said, judging and recognizing our own arguments to be "wrong" is not something that the humanities generally tend to teach very well - with the one exception of logical reasoning and fallacies. Do you see where I'm coming from when I say that?

I think most people argue for what they want to believe, rather than for what best describes reality. And I think that is very detrimental to us getting along.
