Whoopi is ultimately just another victim of cancel culture.

I think, technically, what she did "wrong" was offer a perspective on a group of people's suffering that some people perceived as diminishing that suffering.

And in her case, it's especially silly, because, after all, she is jewish.

But that is why cancel culture is bad. Instead of her being able to explain her comment and have a respectful conversation, she was bullied into apologizing under the threat of losing her job.
