This, more than anything, is how "woke" became kind of a swear word to the non-indoctrinated.
It's not that there isn't value in recognizing the power structures and imbalances in the world. It's the fact that any additions or critiques of that world view were often flatly dismissed as not "woke" enough, even when those critiques were made in earnest.
And so "woke" itself came to represent what in some ways is actually a less "awake" worldview than that of the people it tries to critique.
