The bad people aren't inherently bad, they are just either neurodivergent, or have faced more cruelty in their life which makes it harder to see the value in behaving in pro-social ways.

And the good people are just lucky to live in a world where they either fit in naturally, or have had enough positive social opportunities that they've learned how to get along with others.

But you are right that the internet has exacerbated the rate at which we see people that are hard to deal with.

On the other hand, as another commenter pointed out, the internet also allows more people to find communities where they fit in, even if they feel alone within their local community.

I think most people argue for what they want to believe, rather than for what best describes reality. And I think that is very detrimental to us getting along.
