Thanks, yeah these are all examples of doing rational thinking incorrectly.

If you do the calorie counting thing, and find that you don't enjoy it, then the rational thing to do is come up with a different system whereby you achieve some of the same goals as calorie counting, but in a less burdensome way.

This is the system I was talking about, where your feelings inform your rationality, so that you can improve your strategies for feeling good. It's an iterative process.
