Right. It's actually quite possible that a Christian could erroneously think my endorsement of that one phrase constituted an endorsement of their whole worldview, but that would be a logical fallacy on their part. They might feel comforted in their own mind, but their comfort would in essence be a delusion.

And it's really not practicable at all for me to avoid saying anything that someone could project their delusions onto. So rather than people trying to police what I say as potentially "giving comfort", they should instead police the delusion itself.

I think most people argue for what they want to believe, rather than for what best describes reality. And I think that is very detrimental to us getting along.
