None of us can take any credit for our culture - so why should culture be a source of pride?

In short: it shouldn't be.

But I'll go a step further, We ultimately all need to recognize that none of us deserves to take credit for anything. And since we can't take credit for anything, none of us ought to take pride in anything. Not our accomplishments, not our abilities, not our relationships, and certainly not our culture.

Pride is how we pretend that we're special.

And because we think we're special, we divide ourselves. Pride may very well be the death of us all.

I think most people argue for what they want to believe, rather than for what best describes reality. And I think that is very detrimental to us getting along.
