I suspect it's because the public at large has only started to understand this true nature of the media in the past decade or so. You just happened to be young when this awareness started to spread, whereas Tucker Carlson was older.

I think most people argue for what they want to believe, rather than for what best describes reality. And I think that is very detrimental to us getting along.
