I don't think it's helpful to say that Teed is being patronizing. He's just saying something that he thinks is useful - as are you.
What's more important is to decide whether what he saying is true or not.
And as far as that goes, all he's really saying is that peoples ideas and circumstances and success largely depends on their communities, and the privilege that people derive from their communities. And I think he's ultimately hoping that we can have more empathy for each other if we understand that.
And isn't that something that you could agree with?
