I don't really follow the assertion that the 'kindness' slogans are bad in themself. Yes, there's probably a lot of hypocrisy behind them - and I myself often make the (perhaps unfair) assumption that the people with kindness signs in their yards would not pass my own standard of what I think it means to be kind.
But that said, there's a lot of meanness in the world and in the country, and ultimately, some form of what we call kindness, is a good thing to try to reset to in times of crisis and exacerbated meanness - isn't it?
