Have you considered that "what you worship" is not necessarily synonomous with "what you think you worship"?

Many civilizations throughout history have worshiped the Sun in some way, although with divergent understandings. For instance, in the Greek pantheon, they worshipped Apollo - a man who pulled the Sun with his chariot. Whereas in Japanese Shintoism, they worshiped Amaterasu - a woman who literally was the light of the Sun herself.

The two religions have a different understanding of what the Sun is, but they're still both worshiping the same Sun, right?

Ultimately, I think we're all just worshipping 'goodness' - even if we have different understandings of what that is. And it just seems silly, myopic, and very self centered to assume that your particular understanding is the "right" one. Does that make sense?

I think most people argue for what they want to believe, rather than for what best describes reality. And I think that is very detrimental to us getting along.
