Do you think nihilism is something that we should fear or avoid?

I think the mere fact that I care about my own feelings is proof that there is meaning in the universe. So it seems like we need not fear a truly meaningless universe - because we bear witness to our own meaning every moment of every day.

And as for whether there is a meaning greater than ourselves, I don't understand why this could matter to an individual. All that can possible matter to an individual is the good and bad feelings that they themselves can perceive. And any claims to a "morality" or "meaning" beyond that ultimately just ends up being a tool for making stuff up and manipulating people.

I've written a lot about this:

I think most people argue for what they want to believe, rather than for what best describes reality. And I think that is very detrimental to us getting along.
