I'ts not good from the kitten's perspective, or from the perspective of anyone who has empathy for the kitten, and who therefore desires for you not to do that.
It really is important that we ground morality in the desires and fears of sentient beings though, because any other basis for morality is totally made up, and ripe for abuse.
I know it may seem at the outset like my definition of morality is also ripe for abuse, but it is in fact less-so than a morality that is not based on sentient desires at all. So it’s really our only option.
