Art is simply the expression of a preference. It's any decision that wasn't entirely predictable by your circumstances.

For instance, if it's -30 degrees outside, and you'll need to be outside for an hour, it's not an artistic decision whether to wear a coat or not. But it is an artistic decision whether the coat you choose to wear is blue or green.

Wearing the coat is predictable by the circumstances, but the color is not.
