A falling birth rate is actually a good thing. The world can't sustain infinite growth, and even if it could, it would be too crowded. You could never find privacy in nature, because there would be people EVERYWHERE, which would be horrible.

Lowering the population is probably actually the single easiest and most important step towards a more enjoyable tomorrow in the long run.

Anyone who disagrees with that truly just isn’t thinking long-term enough. Even if we our technology allows everyone to stay well-nourished, it is literally impossible for this one planet to have enough elbow room for an infinite number of people to be as happy as they would be in a world with a more appropriate amount of people.

Any short-term challenges of economic decline literally reduce to nothing compared to the absolute guarantee of misery in a world in which our population never stopped growing. Why not solve this problem sooner rather than later?
